Jeep Trackhawk -- 707bhp, 180mph
Remember that the Dodge Demon from a few slides ago? The madder, badder Hellcat? Course you do. Now imagine the amount of dreadful light beer consumed by the individual who developed the idea of slotting the 707bhp version of said supercharged V8 into the Jeep Grand Cherokee. This, not the Lamborghini Urus, is the most effective SUV of 2017. 'Murica one, Italy, nil
McLaren 720S -- 710bhp, 211mph
The McLaren 720S has brought hypercar functionality to the supercar realm. It is vividly fast, and on the street, you'd struggle to spot a gap in impulse between it and the P1. But besides being a land-borne missile, it's also really engaging to drive at low speed and incredibly friendly and pragmatic, which can be even more of a success than its sensational performance. It's TG's supercar of the year.
Hennessey Venom F5 -- 1600bhp (claimed), 290mph (promised )
Hennessey's back , and he's going for 300mph. The Venom F5, successor to the car that hit 270mph and recognized Hennessey as a player in the top speed supercar game, is called after F5 category storms, which have a windspeed score of up to 318mph. Can the Texan underdog really take it to the might of the VW Group, and Koenigsegg? 2017's show of the new Venom was the opening shot of around two. Put your bets...
Bentley Continental Supersports -- 700bhp, 209mph
Bet you'd forgotten about this one. Yes, just before Bentley wowed us with all the sleeker, more raffish brand new Continental GT, it generated a Supersports version of the outgoing vehicle. And the headline was quite simply this: seven hundred horsepower. And yes, that's appropriate Victorian British imperial horsepower. It's not the most soulful car on this listing by a margin, but this is actually the reigning rate champ among Bentleys, and incongruously magnificent as a result.
Bugatti Chiron -- 1,479bhp, 261mph (claimed)
Though we were introduced into the new Bugatti Chiron in 2016, we weren't exposed to the full power of its 1,479bhp quad-turbo W16 until earlier this year. And if that occurred, any notions of this thing being only a reheated Veyron quickly evaporated. As it's eventually unleashed free of its limiter, the entire world will be seeing.
Mercedes-AMG Project One -- 1,000bhp , 217mph
No-one out AMG has yet driven the Mercedes F1 car for the street known so far just as Project One, but its own stats are suitably barmy to make the cut in this list. Revealed in time to get the 2017 Frankfurt motor show, the supreme AMG promises to launch from 0-124mph in under six seconds, meaning that thanks to its AWD hybrid traction, it'll eliminate the line as fast as an actual F1 car. While, hopefully, making a much neater noise...
